Blog Hop

Welcome to the first ever Scrappn' Savvy blog hop! During this blog hop, you will visit each instructors' website and see some wonderful projects featuring the We R Memory Keepers "Love Struck" collection. You must leave a comment at each blog, and then return back to the Scrappn' Savvy blog and leave a comment that you have finished the hop. There will be some small prizes given away on each blog for a random commenter, and there will be one grand prize given away from all those comments left on the Scrappn' Savvy blog after you have finished the hop. The order of the blogs to visit is listed below.

Here is a project that I created with the We R Memory Keepers "Love Struck" collection:

I used the Cricut project cartridge flower shoppe to create all the flowers and leaves. I stamped and copiced a cute little girl that I also stamped with stayz On onto shirk plastic, copiced and then used a heat gun to shrink. This created a little charm that matched my little girl on the front of the photo box. I applied the paper to the box with Studio mat finished gel, it is simular to modge podge but I love it so much more. It takes just a little bit and seals your project with no bubbles. I also dry brushed white gesso to the black edges, used distressing ink to to paper to give it a more vintage look.

Now continue on with the hop and visit the next person in line! Once you have visited everyone's blog and left a comment, be sure to return to the Scrappn' Savvy blog and leave a comment that you have finished the hop!

Cards with Ellen

We are very lucky to have Ellen here at Scrapbook Playhouse. I worked with Ellen at Lonestar Scrapbook and she has recently moved to Bryan. She is eager to get back to teaching. She brings fresh ideas and is a fabulous designer. Ellen will be doing card classes, Copic Marker Classes, and Altered art Classes. She uses supplies she gets from Holland. She will be making another trip in August and we are eager to see what she is bringing back for us to play with. Visit our website or contact me for class times and dates

Playhouse is getting a face lift

Our little playhouse is getting a face lift this summer. The trim has been painted and Mr. Solis is now working on painting the rest of the house. It will be a beautiful green. Ironically, The daughter of the original owner, Mrs. Mooney, stopped by to take a tour and walk down memory lane. Green, she told me, was the original color. I was so excited to meet them and they are very excited to see what we have been doing with the house. So here is a before picture, and soon I will post an after picture.

Scrapbook Playhouse

I am very excited to announce Scrapbook Playhouse. Scrapbook Playhouse is a place for scrapbookers in the Bryan/College Station area to get together for classes, crops, or just shop. No it is not a scrapbook store. Just a little playhouse for us to have fun in. My friends Marilyn, Margene, and myself are fix'n up a little 1937 home. It is cute as a button, or at least will be soon. We will be doing classes and we do have products for sale before and after classes. For those who are not located in the Bryan/College Station area, Don't worry I will still be doing my cricut classes at Scrappn Savvy. You can check out my website Scrapbook Playhouse, just click on the link at the top of my blog.

Make the Cut Lawsuit with Provo Craft

FYI: Provo Craft won the lawsuit against Make the Cut. Make the Cut has 30 days to place an update that will not allow MTC to work with Cricut machine. What does this mean for you if you already Have MTC? It means DO NOT DO THE UPDATE. If you already have the program, do not update it ever. It will con't to work with your cricut so long as you do not update your cricut firmware. I have a cricut that I use for Sure cuts a lot, etc, I will not update the firmware on this cricut. My Imagine requires updates every so often but does not work with 3rd party software anyhow, so I will update that one instead. If you are a Sure Cuts A Lot user or are thinking about becoming one, I recommend getting program Now before they are forced to do the same. Provo craft just filed with them too. If you use Design Studio it may require you to update your firmware at some point rendering your third party programs useless. Basically, My Sure Cuts A Lot will con't to work so long as I do not update it, which I rarely do, and I do not update my cricut firmware. If you purchase before the update comes out. Lawsuit with MTC took a year and they just filed on Sure Cuts A Lot so we have a little time to see what will happen. IF you are wanting Sure Cuts A Lot get it now before it is too late. When the Cricut Crop Room launches it may also require you to update your firmware on your cricut, just another way they are trying to block 3rd party users. You may have to decide what you like better, the online crop room, or the endless svg's and fonts with SCAL. I have a gypsy and do not need an online version, so I will keep my SCAL, use it way to much to give it up.

Rosette/scored flower

If you are looking for the rosette flower to cut on Sure Cuts A Lot you can find it under my SCAL and Scut free files. It is labeled Scored flower. This is the flower that you score every 1/4 inch then accordian fold it, tape the ends together and flatten and glue flat. I love these flowers but hate scoring. So I made a cut file so now I just press cut, then I simply fold on the pre cut score lines. Best if you cut 2 and connect them together but your preference. I also have the Tim Holtz die cut but it tends to cut the paper to deep and it rips apart, the Cut file I made seems stronger and holds together better.
